# Campaign analytics and click tracking

> What the Analytics tab of an EmailPal campaign shows, how click tracking works, and why open tracking is deliberately not offered.

## The Analytics tab

Open a campaign and choose **Analytics**. At the top you see how many leads have finished the sequence, a **Date range** picker (Last N days), and **Export CSV**, which downloads the numbers for the range you picked.

The cards show:

| Card | What it counts |
| --- | --- |
| **Leads contacted** | Leads emailed at step 1. This is the base for reply rate. |
| **Emails sent** | Every email the campaign has sent in the range. |
| **Click rate** | Clicks as a share of emails sent, with the click count underneath. |
| **Reply rate** | Unique leads who replied, as a share of leads contacted. A lead counts once however many times they reply. Out-of-office and other automatic replies are not counted, and the card notes how many were left out. Hover the **?** beside the label for the definition. |
| **Opportunities** | Opportunities from this campaign, with their total value when they have one. [Pipeline and opportunities](/help/pipeline-and-opportunities) |
| **Conversions** | Deals marked won. |
| **Open rate** | Always shows **Disabled**. See below. |
| **Bounce rate** | Hard and soft bounces as a share of emails sent. |
| **Unsubscribed** | Leads who unsubscribed. |

A chart of **Sent**, **Replies** and **Clicks** sits under the cards, with three tabs below it:

- **Steps and variants** gives each step and each A/B variant a row once it has sent. [Steps, waits and A/B variants](/help/campaign-steps-and-variants)
- **Activity** lists sends, replies and unsubscribes as they happen.
- **Bounces** lists addresses that could not be delivered, with the reason.

## Why there is no open tracking

Open tracking hurts delivery and it is unreliable, so EmailPal does not offer it. The **Open tracking** switch in campaign settings is locked off, and **Open rate** shows **Disabled**. Only clicks are tracked.

Use replies as your main signal, and clicks as a supporting one. [CRM reports](/help/crm-reports) shows the same reply rate for every campaign over its whole life.

## How click tracking works

With **Track link clicks** on (the default), links in a sent email are rewritten to signed tracking links. A click is recorded and the person is then sent on to the original page.

- Only web links (`http` and `https`) are rewritten.
- The unsubscribe link and `mailto:` links are never rewritten.
- Links longer than 1,500 characters are left alone.
- The link uses a shared EmailPal host unless you set up your own tracking domain. [Tracking domains](/help/tracking-domains)

To switch it off for one campaign, turn off **Track link clicks** under **Advanced options**, **Tracking and format**. Links then go out as you wrote them.

## Links that cause problems

- More than 3 different links in an email shows as a launch warning.
- Link shorteners and bare-IP links are launch blockers. [Launch checklist](/help/campaign-launch-checklist)

## FAQs

### Can I turn open tracking on?

No. It is off for every campaign and cannot be switched on.

### How is reply rate worked out?

Unique leads who replied divided by leads contacted, for the date range you picked. It is not replies divided by emails sent, so adding steps to a sequence does not lower it. The campaign list shows the count of leads who replied rather than a percentage.

### Where do replies show up?

In **Unibox**. [Unibox](/help/unibox-shared-inbox)

### Does click tracking affect deliverability?

Rewritten links can. That is why EmailPal lets you use a hostname on your own domain, so the links look like yours. You can also turn click tracking off per campaign.
