## What Does Email Warm-up Mean?

A new mailbox has no sending history. Inbox providers treat that as unknown. If you immediately send hundreds of cold emails, the messages land in spam or the mailbox gets blocked.

**Warm-up** (warming) is the practice of sending a small, increasing amount of mail — and getting replies — so Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo and others learn that the address is a real correspondent. EmailPal runs that process for you against **real accounts at Gmail, Yahoo and AOL**, then uses those accounts' folder reports to decide when the mailbox is **campaign-ready**.

Price: **$0.60 per inbox per month**, whether we host the mailbox or you connected Gmail, Outlook or your own server.

This is not the same SKU as [pre-warmed mailboxes](/help/pre-warmed-inboxes-by-emailpal). Warming is something you turn on. Pre-warmed is something you lease after we already turned it on.

## What EmailPal Warming Is

Warming is a network of real conversations between your mailbox and seed accounts at Gmail, Yahoo and AOL. Those accounts report whether each message landed in the inbox, the promotions tab or spam. EmailPal uses that evidence to decide when a mailbox is campaign-ready — **not a fixed number of days**.

What you get for $0.60:

- Real-provider seeds, not EmailPal-to-EmailPal loops
- A daily ramp that starts small (about two a day on a standard / fresh-domain profile, about five on accelerated / aged)
- **Spam rescue** when a seed reports spam — we try to pull the thread back toward the inbox instead of pouring more volume into junk
- **Weekend throttling** so Saturday does not look like a weekday blast
- Automatic **holds** when placement collapses
- A dashboard of inbox rate, health score and state (ramping, steady, paused, Slow-Ramp)

Typical time to campaign-ready is **14+ days** on a fresh domain and about **7 days** on an aged one. Those are observations, not a guarantee. Graduation is the measured inbox rate.

Pre-warmed leases include this warming for free. You do not pay $0.60 on top of $3.

Warming is available on every plan. It is optional on hosted and connected mailboxes. It is mandatory-and-included on pre-warmed leases.

## Why Use It

- New domains and new mailboxes are untrusted. Warming is how they become trusted.
- Measurement tells you when to start campaigns instead of guessing at day 14.
- The same engine runs on hosted mailboxes, Gmail, Outlook and arbitrary SMTP/IMAP, at the same price.
- Spam rescue and weekend throttling are part of the $0.60, not a higher tier.

## How to Enable It

### From the dashboard

1. Sign in. Open **Warming**, or open a mailbox and turn warming on there.
2. Pick a profile if you were offered one (standard vs accelerated on aged domains).
3. Leave it running. Pausing resets progress; see [Enable, pause or resume warming](/help/enable-pause-or-resume-warming).
4. Watch inbox rate and state. Do not start full campaign volume until the mailbox shows **campaign-ready**.

### Over the API or MCP

## Sending Recommendations While Warming

- Do not start full campaign volume until campaign-ready
- Keep copy varied; identical ramps across a whole domain look automated
- If state is **Slow-Ramp** or blocked, fix the cause before adding cold volume. See [Troubleshooting failed warmup](/help/troubleshooting-failed-warmup)
- Warmup messages do **not** count against the 40/day (plan) or 15/day (pre-warmed) cold-email cap

## FAQs

### Does warming count against my daily send limit?

### Can I warm a Gmail I already own?

Yes. Connect it and pay $0.60/mo. Same seeds, same measurement.

### When is a mailbox campaign-ready?

### Is warming included on pre-warmed inboxes?

Yes, for the life of the lease, at no extra charge.

### What is spam rescue?

If a seed reports spam, EmailPal tries to recover the thread toward the inbox instead of continuing to send into junk. That is part of the $0.60 product.

### A warmup bounce disabled warming. Now what?

Fix authentication, credentials or the mailbox, then resume. See [Warmup bounce and disabled warmup](/help/warmup-bounce-and-disabled-warmup). Do not keep toggling it on a dead address.

### Can I skip warming and send anyway?

You can send from any mailbox that is provisioned. The filters on the other end do not care that you were in a hurry.
