# How billing works

## The arithmetic

The monthly invoice is a function of usage, not a mystery Stripe dashboard:

- Plan fee (Starter / Growth / Scale)
- Hosted mailboxes above the included count × $1 (pre-warmed leases excluded from this count)
- Warming enrolments × $0.60 (pre-warmed excluded)
- Pre-warmed inboxes × $3
- Dedicated IPs × $20
- Extra verification blocks if you bought them

You can see the same preview on **Billing**. That is the code that charges you.

Domains you register are prepaid one-time, not a subscription line.

## FAQs

### Why didn't deleting a mailbox today change the invoice to the penny?

We bill the period, not the hour. See [Delete a mailbox](/help/delete-a-mailbox).

### AppSumo / lifetime?

A lifetime licence covers the plan fee. Warming, extra mailboxes, pre-warmed leases and verification blocks still need a card. The billing page says so when that applies.
