# Pre-warmed vs fresh mailboxes

## Two ways to get senders

Cold email infrastructure usually offers a "fresh" path and a "pre-warmed" path. EmailPal does too. They are different products, billed differently, with different sending caps.

## When to use fresh mailboxes

Use [register a domain](/help/register-a-domain) or [bring your own](/help/bring-your-own-domain) when:

- You want brandable names (acmehq.com, not a generic parked domain)
- You want to pick mailbox handles
- You can wait for aging plus the warming ramp (~7 days on an aged domain, 14+ on a new one)
- You want the higher 40/day cap once the mailbox is campaign-ready
- You want the domain to remain yours if you leave

## Aged but not pre-warmed

EmailPal also sells [aged, unwarmed domains](/help/aged-unwarmed-domains) from $19. Those domains have been parked 60+ days. They are **not** pre-warmed. You still run the accelerated warming ramp after you buy them. That is the middle path: you own the name, you still wait about a week.

## FAQs

### Can I convert a fresh mailbox into a pre-warmed one?

No. Pre-warmed inventory is a separate pool. Warming a mailbox you created does not move it onto the pre-warmed shelf, and claiming a pre-warmed mailbox does not turn it into a plan mailbox you can rename.

### Which one is cheaper?

A plan mailbox plus $0.60 warming is cheaper per month than a $3 lease if you can wait. The lease is paying for time and a measured inbox rate, not for a lower unit cost.

### Can I mix both?

Yes. Many workspaces send from plan mailboxes on their own domains and lease pre-warmed inventory for extra volume that has to start immediately. Pre-warmed does not eat a Starter mailbox slot.

### Are fresh mailboxes Google accounts?
