Use your list check results

What each List check result means, why role accounts count as safe, the 8% line for saving to a list or campaign, and how to download results, save them as a contact list or add them straight to a campaign, with your original columns if you attach the file.

Where to find it

Open List check. Every list you have checked is in the Checked lists table. Each row has a Use results button, and Breakdown on a row has one too. Tick several rows to use them together: the bar above the table reads Use combined results, and an address that appears on more than one list is counted once.

The button is greyed out while a list is still checking, and after its results expire (see How long results are kept, below). Hover it to see why.

What each result means

Every address gets exactly one result, so the parts always add up to the list.

Why role accounts count as safe here

A role account came back from the mailbox check as a real, accepting inbox. It is a shared inbox rather than a person, which matters for how you write to it, but it does not bounce. So in List check it sits with Safe: the recommended choice is Safe + role, a role account is saved to a contact as verified, and it adds nothing to a selection's bounce estimate.

Choosing what to use

The dialog starts on a preset. You can change it, or tick results one by one.

PresetIncludes
SafeConfirmed mailboxes only.
Safe + roleAdds confirmed shared inboxes. Recommended.
Safe + role + catch-allAdds addresses that cannot be confirmed.
Everything sendableAdds Unknown too.
Removed addressesInvalid, disabled, disposable, inbox full and suppressed. Download only.

As you choose, the dialog shows how many addresses that is and the bounce it expects from them. Safe and role count as zero; catch-all, unknown and disposable count as 15% each, because they cannot be confirmed; invalid, disabled, inbox full and suppressed count in full.

The 8% line

A selection whose estimated bounce is 8% or more can be downloaded, but not saved to a list or added to a campaign. It is the same line that refuses a list in the first place: at that level receiving providers conclude the list was never verified, and the damage lands on your domain. Leave catch-all or unknown out and the estimate drops.

A list that was flagged (Clean it first) or refused shows Clean and use instead. It opens on Safe + role, which keeps the confirmed addresses and leaves out what made the list fail.

Download, list or campaign

  • Download gives you a CSV of the selection: email, result, reason, list and checked_at. Any selection can be downloaded, including Removed addresses, which is the file to use for cleaning your own CRM. Downloads are recorded in your export history.
  • Save as a list creates a new contact list, or adds to one you already have. Each contact is marked with its result, so a campaign knows a catch-all from a safe address.
  • Add to a campaign puts the addresses on a list and enrolls them in the campaign you pick. Addresses already in the campaign, blocklisted, unsubscribed or bounced before are skipped and counted. A campaign that holds catch-all or unknown leads under its own settings still holds them.

Only results that can be sent (safe, role account, catch-all, unknown) can ever reach a list or a campaign. Removed addresses are download only.

Keep your original columns

List check stores only each address and its result. Names, companies and any other columns from your file are not kept. To bring them back, attach the original file in the dialog. It is matched to your selection in your browser:

  • For a download, the file never leaves your computer. The extra columns are added to the CSV on your machine.
  • For a list or campaign, only the matched columns for the addresses you selected are sent, so they can be saved on the contacts (first name, last name, company, title, phone, website, LinkedIn, city, state, country, and any other column as a custom field).

Attaching is optional. Without it you get the addresses and their results.

How long results are kept

Each address and its result are kept for 90 days after the check, then deleted. This is a promise in our privacy notice. The table shows the date under each list ("Results expire Jan 21"). After that the counts and the breakdown stay, but the list can no longer be downloaded, saved or added to a campaign. Check it again if you need it.
