# What "pre-warmed" means

> A plain-language definition of pre-warmed mailboxes and domains, and how EmailPal's version differs from an address that is merely aged, merely warmed, or a rented Google seat.

## What does "pre-warmed" mean?

A **pre-warmed** mailbox is one that has already gone through email warm-up — a period of sending and receiving real messages so mailbox providers learn to treat the address as legitimate — **before you send your first campaign**.

The phrase is used loosely in this market. Vendors attach it to aged domain names, to Google Workspace seats that have been sitting in a pool, and to SMTP inboxes that finished a ramp. Those are not the same product. The words to keep separate:

- An **aged domain** has existed for a while. Receivers have had time to see its DNS. It has not necessarily sent any mail.
- A **warmed mailbox** has actually sent and received, usually starting small and increasing. You still waited for that ramp.
- A **pre-warmed mailbox** is a warmed mailbox you can use immediately, because someone else already ran that ramp.
- A **rented Google / Outlook seat** is a Workspace or Microsoft 365 licence in someone else's tenant. It may or may not be warmed. It is not what EmailPal sells.

Age without conversations is a parked name. Conversations without a listing you can claim today is just warmup. Pre-warmed is the combination: aged domain + finished ramp + you can send now.

## What EmailPal measures

EmailPal does not list an inbox as pre-warmed because the domain is old. We:

1. Register and park the domain for **90+ days**
2. Create mailboxes and run the standard warming ramp against **real accounts at Gmail, Yahoo and AOL**
3. Record where those messages landed (inbox vs promotions vs spam)
4. Attach that **inbox-placement rate** to the listing, visible before you pay
5. Keep warming running after you claim, included in the **$3/mo** lease

Age without measurement is a proxy. Placement is the fact. The product page and [Pre-warmed Mailboxes by EmailPal](/help/pre-warmed-inboxes-by-emailpal) use the same number.

Search-intent sibling: [Pre-Warmed Domains and Accounts](/help/pre-warmed-domains-and-accounts).

## What it is not

- It is **not** a Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 licence you rent. No admin console, no Google tenant. Hosted SMTP/IMAP. [SMTP vs Google vs Outlook](/help/smtp-vs-google-vs-outlook-for-cold-email).
- It is **not** a domain you registered this morning with "warming" as a label. That domain still needs [Email warming by EmailPal](/help/email-warming-by-emailpal).
- It is **not** an [aged, unwarmed domain](/help/aged-unwarmed-domains). Those are cheaper ($19+) and still take the ~7 day accelerated ramp.
- It is **not** unlimited sending on day one. EmailPal caps cold volume at **15 emails per day** per leased inbox.
- It is **not** a transfer of the domain. You lease the mailboxes. The name stays ours.

## Why the 15/day cap exists

Receivers still watch new campaign patterns. A mailbox that inboxed during warming can look like a new bulk sender the week you paste it into Instantly and jump to 50/day.

The 15/day ceiling is how we keep the measurement from collapsing on contact with a real list. Volume means claiming more inboxes, not raising the number. [Sending limits per mailbox](/help/sending-limits-per-mailbox).

## Pre-warmed vs warming vs aged

| | Aged, unwarmed domain | Warming on a mailbox you own | Pre-warmed mailbox |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Price | from $19 once | $0.60/mo | $3/mo lease |
| Domain owner | You | You (or Google/Microsoft) | EmailPal |
| Ramp already done? | No (~7 days) | No (14+ or ~7) | Yes |
| Measured inbox rate on a listing? | No | Dashboard, after you start | Yes, before you pay |
| Send from day one? | No | No | Yes, 15/day |
| 90-day term | No | No | Yes |

## FAQs

### Is a 90-day-old domain automatically pre-warmed?

No. Ninety days is the age floor for EmailPal inventory. Pre-warmed means the mailbox also finished warming and has a measured inbox rate.

### Can I pre-warm a domain I already own?

You can **warm** any mailbox you connect — Gmail, Outlook or SMTP/IMAP — for $0.60/mo. That is [Email warming by EmailPal](/help/email-warming-by-emailpal). Pre-warmed inventory is a separate leased pool we prepared ahead of time. You cannot relabel your own domain as pre-warmed inventory.

### Why not send 50 emails on day one if it is already warm?

Receivers still watch new campaign patterns. The 15/day cap is how we keep the measurement from collapsing the first week you use the address.

### Is this the same as Instantly or Smartlead "pre-warmed"?

Same category of product: skip the wait, send sooner. Different facts: EmailPal is $3 vs typical $9+ plus warmup add-ons, measured Gmail/Yahoo/AOL placement on the listing, 15/day hard cap, 90-day domain age, hosted SMTP not a Google seat.

### Do I need warmup after I claim?

Warming stays on, included. You do not start a new 14-day wait. You also do not turn it off.
