Lead statuses

The built-in lead statuses in EmailPal's CRM and Unibox, what each status type does when you set it, and how to add your own.

What a lead status is

A lead status says where a person stands: interested, meeting booked, not interested and so on. You set it by hand on a reply in Unibox or on a lead in the CRM. EmailPal does not decide that a reply is positive for you.

The status is separate from a lead's state inside a campaign (In sequence, Replied and so on). Lead states and stop rules

Built-in statuses keep their meaning, and their type is fixed. EmailPal sets Out of office itself when it detects an automatic reply, but only if the contact's status is still Lead.

What the type does

The type decides what changing to a status does.

TypeWhat it does
NeutralNo automation.
PositiveCreates an opportunity and notifies you.
NegativeNot interested, wrong person. Closes an open opportunity as lost.
WonCloses the opportunity as won.
LostCloses the opportunity as lost.

Opportunities are only created and moved automatically while Sync lead status with replies is on in the Engage workspace settings. It is on by default. Opportunities you create yourself are never changed by a status. The exact rules are in Pipeline and opportunities.

Notify me about positive replies controls the notification, and Play a sound with notifications adds a sound.

Set a status

  • Unibox. Open a conversation, choose Set status and pick one. The first nine statuses in the list also have the number keys 1 to 9 as shortcuts. Unibox
  • CRM, one lead. Open a lead in Leads and use the Status menu in its details panel.
  • CRM, many leads. Select leads in Leads and choose Change status.

You can filter Leads in the CRM by status, and the Unibox by Status too.

Add your own

  1. Open CRM and choose Settings.
  2. Under Lead statuses, enter a name under New status, such as "Referred".
  3. Pick a Colour and a Type.
  4. Choose Add status.

You can change the colour of any status and the type of your own statuses. Your own statuses have a bin button to delete them.

A custom Positive status such as "Referred" does not have a pipeline stage of its own. If the person already has an open opportunity it stays where it is. Otherwise a new one starts in the first open stage.

You can also have a status block the person automatically. The global blocklist and unsubscribes

FAQs

Does a reply change the status by itself?

Not to a positive one. A person has to label it. The one exception is Out of office, which is applied to automatic replies.

Can I change a built-in status's type?

No. It is fixed. Add your own status if you need different behaviour.

What does Won do?

It closes the person's open opportunity as won. With no open opportunity it creates one that is already won.
